Haha so after 2 years of National Service, i have finally ORDed on the 8th of December 2007...
NS to me has really been some kind of journey...a roller coaster ride where i have experienced lots of diff events going on, some pleasant, some unpleasant...haha for obvious reasons, i wun be talking too in depth abt my NS stint but more of my reflections and feelings...
Like wat i learnt from BMT, it's not what u do in the army but who u do it with tat matters...haha..in a way it's been true...how guys who acty dunno each other at first come together and after a short (BMT) or long (unit life) or very long (BMT + unit life) period of time bond together to become great buddies(big ass or not is another matter altogether hahahah =P)
And with great pride, i'm able to tell others that thru NS, i have met frens who i know will be there for me when i need them (hahaha so corny but true)... perhaps it's more of the realisation of the fact that we guys have enjoyed and stuck it out thru all the good and bad times together that so bonds us together closely...tat we were really together to help and support one another, to laugh with and laugh at one another etc..and now some of us are even finding jobs together! lol...
Besides the making frens part of NS, i've also learnt alot from our daily routines and work...of coz there are certain skills tat i've learnt tat i most prob wouldn't use at all in the future...however there are other things tat i've seen, absorbed and learnt to use tat i believe will help me in the future...lessons like maintaining cordial relationships with the ppl around u, helping them whenever they need it etc...office politics are almoz inherent in every organisation and i've witnessed quite a great deal of it too...i tink coping with adverse situations and office politics is something else which i've picked up along the way...it's not so much abt working hard onli, we have to work smart too...haha..and at the same time be flexible to change around us...
Altogether, i would like to say tat NS has prepared me for life even though there are times i acty feel really sianded (are all jobs like tat? haha) and complain abt NS...with the 2 yrs of NS finished, i can now start on my nxt chapter of life while applying what i've learnt from NS to the future...at the same time, i am hopeful tat i can carry on being close frens with some of those peeps i've known thru NS...
Now is the time to find my new job, learn driving and get my new handphone...
